GRAMMAR - BLOCK 1
Lesson 1: Präsens
1. Presente tense in German = Simple&Continuos present in English.
2. Spelling Variations
- Verbs whose stem ends in -d or -t: We put an 'e' before -st and -t endings to make pronounciation easier. *Only for du, er/sie/es and ihr.
- Verbs such as atmen and regnen also need the additional e.
- Ending in -s, -ss, or -ß: If the verb stem ends in any of these consonants, for the "du" form → you add -t instead of -st.
- Ending in -x, -z, or -tz: For some verbs that end with these consonants, you follow the same pattern and also use -t for the "du" form.
- For some irregular verbs, the vowel in the stem changes but only for du and er/sie/es forms. E.g: Schalafen, essen, sprechen, lesen and sehen. Usual Patterns;
