1. 12 million Germans are involved in voluntary work.
   12 Millionen Deutsche engagieren sich ehrenamtlich.

2. They are coaches in sports clubs, help in volunteer fire brigades, in church communities, hospitals, and senior centers – all unpaid, meaning without payment.
   Sie sind Trainer im Sportverein, helfen bei der freiwilligen Feuerwehr, in Kirchengemeinden, Krankenhäusern und Seniorentreffs – alles unentgeltlich, also ohne Bezahlung.

3. Without them, many social institutions in Germany would not exist.
   Ohne sie würde es viele soziale Einrichtungen in Deutschland nicht geben.

4. Many migrants also take on voluntary tasks.
   Auch viele Migranten übernehmen ehrenamtliche Aufgaben.

    Nina hat eine Pizza bestellt. Die Pizza ist normal groß, aber Nina hat keinen Hunger. Sie isst nur die halbe Pizza. Die Pizza ist ihr zu groß.

24. She says: “The pizza is too big for me.”
    Sie sagt: „Die Pizza ist mir zu groß.“

25. Nico asks a man at the bus stop for directions. The man helps him, but he speaks very quickly. Nico does not understand him.
    Nico fragt einen Mann an der Bushaltestelle nach dem Weg. Der Mann hilft ihm, aber er spricht sehr schnell. Nico versteht ihn nicht.

26. The man speaks too quickly for him. Nico says: “That is too fast for me.”
    Der Mann spricht ihm zu schnell. Nico sagt: „Das ist mir zu schnell.“

27. Max and Tarek want to buy a new coffee machine for their restaurant. They find a good machine, but they do not have enough money.

28. The coffee machine is too expensive for them. They say: “The machine is too expensive for us.”
